The Solheim Cup brings back so many happy memories for me as a player and captain. Attention now turns to the Colorado Golf Club in August 2013 when Europe will try to retain the trophy for the first time in history.
I was fortunate enough to play for Europe on six occasions, appearing on the winning side three times.
But perhaps the highlight came at Killeen Castle in Ireland in 2011 when I was the captain as Europe defeated the United States by 15 points to 13 in a thrilling duel. It was described as one of the greatest matches in golfing history.
It will be 16 years since I enjoyed the highlight of my playing career on American soil, beating the legendary Nancy Lopez to win the US Open, one of my 18 professional titles.
I will be there in Colorado and hopefully you will be there alongside me to share that special Solheim Cup experience.
It should be quite an occasion and let's hope we can all cheer Europe on to another victory...
Alison Nicholas MBE
The flag is flying high thanks to the endeavours of our proud girls and boys.
The next instalment in this transatlantic showdown comes when the Solheim Cup – the most prestigious prize in women’s team golf – is staged in the American state of Colorado in August 2013.
Can our ladies emulate the achievements of the men who retained the Ryder Cup in such extraordinary circumstances in Chicago a year earlier?
Europe is the holder of the Solheim Cup, however, they have never lifted the trophy on American soil.
Denver is their destination and you can be there to see all the drama unfold.
It is one of America’s most wonderful cities, famed for its gold mines and stunning landscapes with panoramic views of the Rocky Mountains.
The venue for the Solheim Cup – held between Friday, August 16 and Sunday, August 18, 2013 - is the highly-rated Colorado Golf Club in Parker, a suburb of Denver.
We’ll take care of all your travel and ticketing arrangements, guaranteeing VIP treatment and the best view of the action.
Your host will be Alison Nicholas MBE, a former Solheim Cup player and captain, who is an official ambassador for ESCT.
So as you can see we’ve added some stardust to your trip to the land of the Stars and Stripes.
